SURABAYA – Another proud achievement has been recorded by a student of the Doctoral Program in Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA), Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), Universitas Airlangga. Andrea Tri Rian Dani received the Best Presentation Award at The 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence for Sustainable Society (AISS 2026), held on 23-25 October 2026 at Ritsumeikan University, Osaka Ibaraki Campus (OIC), Osaka, Japan.
The award was granted for a research presentation titled “Earth Skin Temperature Forecasting for Climate-Resilient Urban Development in Indonesia’s Nusantara Capital City (IKN) Using a Hybrid Statistical Learning Model: A Comparative Study with Machine Learning.”
The study focuses on developing a model to forecast land surface temperature in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) area, using a hybrid statistical learning approach compared against machine learning methods. The research is highly relevant to supporting urban development planning that is adaptive to climate change, particularly in realizing IKN as a sustainable and climate-resilient city.
The AISS 2026 conference is an international scientific forum that brings together academics, researchers, and practitioners from various countries to share developments in research and innovation in artificial intelligence in support of sustainable development. The forum also serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and for strengthening international research collaboration networks.
Andrea’s receipt of the Best Presentation Award demonstrates the ability of the Doctoral Program in MIPA students to communicate their research in a scientific and competitive manner at the international level. The achievement also reflects the contribution of mathematics, statistics, and artificial intelligence to providing solutions for sustainable development challenges.
